ABOUT US

The Hedge Hoppers are a four-piece modern rock band hailing from London, Ontario. The band was formed in 2020 by lead-singer and guitarist Calvin Kelly, bassist Graham Kelly, and drummer Laura Vanhoucke, with keys player and lead guitarist Adam Wiraszka joining later that year.

The Hedge Hoppers create an exciting blend of modern rock and nostalgic 90’s alternative that will remind you of bands such as Stone Temple Pilots and The Goo Goo Dolls. Adding elements of electronica, blues and punk the band has managed to create a unique, energetic sound which is further accented by their dynamic stage performance. Vocalist Calvin Kelly’s voice has been described as “Eddie Vedder if he was a surfer'', writing emotion-filled but upbeat lyrics that sink into your soul.

In 2022, the group released their debut LP titled If You Want Me To Stay. They sold out their release shows in London and Windsor as part of their Southwestern Ontario tour where they played in 7 major cities. The band played more than 50 shows across Ontario in 2022, including notable venues such as Lee’s Palace, The Horseshoe Tavern, Rum Runners and The Railway City Music Festival. They were also chosen to be a part of London’s Indie Week program piloting Venue X Venue Music Festival, a multi venue music festival coming to London the following year.

2023 started off brightly with the group being nominated for Best Rock band by Forest City London Music Awards. The rest of the year brings with it new music, a new sound, and plenty of shows to be announced. The band is currently recording their second album, set to be released in 2023, which they will be bringing to Canadian audiences this summer.
